PhD student publication success

Dec 2018: Many congratulations to our Centre-funded students Hannah Shorrock and Chris Crockford, who can now add 'Dr' to their name!

Dr Hannah Shorrock and Dr Chris Crockford were both recruited by the Euan MacDonald Centre as PhD students back in 2014.

We are delighted that both have now completed their PhD successfully. Furthermore, both published their research findings in prestigious scientific journals this year: this means that the results have been scrutinised by experts, will now be read by researchers worldwide and contribute to the weight of literature in their respective topics that drives the research forward.

We offer our sincere congratulations to both, and wish them every success in their future career.

Dr Hannah Shorrock

Hannah completed her PhD in Professor Tom Gillingwater's lab.

She published her findings on the molecules involved in spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) in the journal Brain in September 2018.

Hannah has now taken up a postdoctoral research position at the University of Florida.

Chris was supervised by Professor Sharon Abrahams.

His research, on the changes in thinking and behaviour experienced by some people with MND, was published in Neurology in October 2018.
