Principal Investigator
Division of Cell and Developmental Biology, School of Life Sciences, University of Dundee

Dr Leeanne McGurk aims to understand why brain cells die in MND. Her research utilizes the tiny fruit fly to identify the biology that causes brain degeneration. To understand the disease biology uncovered in the fly, Dr McGurk combines studies in mammalian cells and neurons together with studies of tissue from people with MND. In this way, Dr McGurk aims to develop a greater understanding of the disease process.

Leeanne McGurk obtained her PhD from the University of Edinburgh and moved to the University of Pennsylvania for her postdoctoral studies. Leeanne established her lab at the University of Dundee in 2019.
