Method of fundraising

Edinburgh Half Marathon

Why did you decide to fundraise?

Euan MacDonald Centre member Anna Stuckert, is turning cutting-edge ALS research into action taking on the Edinburgh Half Marathon. Anna is a PhD student under the supervision of Dr Ilary Allodi. Her research focuses on exploring the genetic links between amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD), two conditions that share the same mutations.

How did you raise the money?

Anna will be running in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival's Half Marathon in May 2026.

Fundraising wisdom:

Anna signed up for the Edinburgh Half Marathon as a family challenge inspired by her marathon-running mother-in-law.

When she learned she could support the Euan MacDonald Centre, it became an easy choice: a chance to take on her first half marathon while raising funds and doing some extra good.

"I haven't done fundraising in that sense before, so I thought it would be a good challenge and bring some extra good with it."
