Dr Karen Burr
Karen is the Stem Cell Research Manager in Professor Chandran's group. She is responsible for the management and running of the stem cell facility. She and her team ensure all members of the group and others from the Euan MacDonald Centre have the stem cells they require to perform experiments. This includes overseeing and performing the differentiation of stem cells to neuronal cell types for MND research purposes. Karen is also involved in public engagement within and outside the lab.
Karen obtained a PhD in Genetics from the University of Leicester before undertaking postdoctoral research into radiation-induced leukaemia in Dundee. She then made a step towards technical management at the University of Edinburgh before moving to work in the Euan MacDonald Centre.
