Dr Gavin McCluskey completed medical training at Queen’s University Belfast and neurology training at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast. He completed a PhD in 2023 with Dr Stephanie Duguez at Ulster University investigating blood based extracellular vesicle biomarkers in motor neuron disease alongside a 3 year ABN clinical fellowship with Prof Karen Morrison at the Northern Ireland regional MND clinic. 

Dr McCluskey is working as a Consultant Neurologist in the Western Health and Social Care Trust of Northern Ireland and leads the local MND service. His current research interests are epidemiology and biomarker development in MND as well as improving access to clinical trial opportunities for patients living with MND in Northern Ireland.
