Marnie Pardo
Marnie is a PhD student at the University of Edinburgh, supervised by Prof Sharon Abrahams, Prof Sarah McPherson, and Dr Caroline McHutchison. Her research explores cognitive profiles in individuals living with motor neuron disease (MND/ALS), focusing on how patterns of cognitive strengths and difficulties vary within individuals. She is particularly interested in how these profiles relate to everyday life and decision-making. Using data from the Edinburgh Cognitive and Behavioural ALS Screen (ECAS), her research aims to better understand these individual patterns and their impact, with the longer-term goal of supporting more personalised approaches to assessment and care.
Marnie completed an MSc in Human Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Edinburgh and a BA in Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of Puget Sound. Her wider research interests include neurodegeneration, the impact of cognitive and behavioural changes on individuals and caregivers, and decision-making in ageing and end-of-life.
